The mission of the Northwest Area Foundation is to support efforts by the people, organizations and communities of our eight-state region to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable prosperity. We support organizations that work to reimagine and restructure unjust systems so communities can thrive on their own terms. They lead with courage, wisdom and vision, advancing long-overdue change in deep connection with the land they inhabit and the communities they serve - Native Americans, communities of color, immigrants, refugees and people in rural areas. These organizations are on a journey of building social, racial and economic justice. Our region includes Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and the 76 Native Nations of our region.
